Preston Recruitment is supporting a global data centre services provider with the appointment of a Data Center Facility Manager for a flagship critical environment in Frankfurt. This is a senior operational role with responsibility for uptime, compliance, and leadership of site-based technical teams within a mission-critical facility.
The Role
As Data Center Facility Manager, you will take full ownership of the day-to-day operation of a live data centre, ensuring 24/7 availability, safety, and performance of all critical infrastructure systems. You will act as the senior site lead, managing teams, vendors, budgets, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for facilities operations within a mission-critical environment, ensuring continuous uptime and service excellence
- Management of all mechanical, electrical, and building systems (HV, LV, UPS, generators, cooling, BMS, fire systems)
- Lead and develop on-site engineering and operations teams
- Ownership of Opex and Capex budgets, forecasting and cost control
- Manage preventive and reactive maintenance programmes
- Ensure full compliance with H&S, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Manage contractors and service partners to agreed SLAs
- Act as senior escalation point for incidents and operational issues
- Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
About You
- You do not need to come from a data centre background, but you must have experience running the operations of a critical or high-availability environment
- Strong technical background in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Proven experience leading teams in 24/7 operational environments
- Budget ownership and commercial management experience
- Calm, structured approach to incident management and risk
- Strong stakeholder and client-facing communication skills
- Fluent English essential; German highly advantageous
