Data Centre Maintenance Engineer – Critical Environment – Birmingham, West Midlands

My client is a award winning data centre operator with operations across the globe. Due to an internal promotion at their Birmingham DC they are actively recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join an established team of M/E Building Services Engineers.
Job Specification:
- Carrying out routine PPMs and reactive maintenance across all M&E plant in line with site schedules and SLAs
- Working on mechanical and electrical systems including pumps, motors, valves, AHUs, FCUs, cooling systems, UPS, generators, lighting, and BMS controls
- Operating within a live critical environment and adhering to risk-based maintenance protocols
- Supporting emergency response and participating in the call-out rota (1-hour SLA)
- Managing subcontractors and site access for planned works
- Responsible for permit-to-work systems, RAMS, site logbooks and H&S compliance
- Completion of reports, logs and job documentation
- Supporting technical audits and contributing to continuous service improvement
Salary & Package:
- £40,000 – £42,000 per annum + Overtime Available!
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 8am to 5pm (40 Hours/Week)
- 1/3 Call-Out Allowance: £100 per week + overtime for call-outs (£1700.00 Extra Per Year)
- 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays

The Person:
- City & Guilds / NVQ / BTEC in Electrical OR Mechanical Engineering
- Experience working in a critical environment (e.g. data centres, healthcare, secure sites)
- Understanding of permits, risk assessments and change control processes
- Able to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and communicate clearly
- Ex-Forces Engineers welcomed
- Full UK driving licence and able to reach site within 1 hour for call-outs
